This question has been posted before. The current thread on deep air
vs helium has insprired me to repeat it. For those who want to see the original thread, here is the link -- http://x67.deja.com/[ST_rn=ps]/viewthread.xp?AN=620275929&search=thread&svcclass=dnyr&ST=PS&CONTEXT=978137269.924319781&HIT_CONTEXT=978137269.924319781&HIT_NUM=3&recnum=%3c8f3sb3$vp2$1@newsmaster.pathcom.com%3e%231/1&group=rec.scuba&frpage=viewthread.xp&back=clarinet Hope it survives the line wrap - If not, do a Power Search with the keyword hypothetical, me as the author, and here as the forum. Comes right up. Here is the original post. Scenario You are a GUE trained tech diver, believe that what they teach is the best way, and own any gear necessary for any type of diving you may do. You win a free trip on a liveaboard in Belize. You check things out and learn that: 1. The normal routine is 5 dives per day, 2 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon, and one at night. 2. The boat has air and Nitrox, but not helium. 3. The boat has lots of Al 80 tanks, some dedicated to Nitrox and some to air. All tanks have K valves with yoke fittings. 4. Most dives are wall dives. You can choose any maximum depth from 20 => 200 ft, but the boat has a guideline of no planned deco, and max depth of 130 ft. 5. An exception is one dive at the Blue Hole. The interesting part of this dive is at ~130 ft. Because of the depth, there is no late morning dive that day. A trip to Bird Droppings Island for a BBQ picnic lunch is planned instead. 6. You have the boat's permission to bring your own hardware (valves, etc) Questions 1. How many dives per day do you plan to make? 2. Do you use tables or a computer? 3. Do you go with the K valve, or do you make modifications? If so, elaborate. 4. Do you dive the Blue Hole? 5. Do you make any equipment changes for this particular dive? If so, elaborate.
