I would suggest that your wife not rush to do anything until she has
dived a few times. I wear contacts for diving to correct my distance vision, and this requires reading glasses (a 1.75). I have never yet felt the need for near vision correction. My computer and gauges are perfectly legible. Your wife may decide that the water works just fine as a reading lens.
