Seriously, being recently nitrox cert'ed I came away with a question that I
think is important, and haven't gotten/found a good answer yet. Maybe some of 'yall can help me out here. Maybe I just missed it, or I am looking for something that doesn't exist, but I don't think so. The question is simple enough, but I haven't found an answer that satisfies me yet. Here goes: When doing multi-day, multi-level, and multi-dives per day using nitrox, or anything other than air for that matter, how can/do you keep track of otu's without using a computer? Noaa tables show a single exposure limit, and a 24 hour max. exposure limit. For that matter, air should/probably be considered also (21/79) is a mix as 32/68. Maybe at that low level, the numbers don't matter. But that can't really be true 'cause if you're dumb enough, you can get high ppo2's on air as well. But that's another story. So let's not go there with this. Huh?!? Please.... If doing multi-day, multi-dives per day, and multi-level dives, how do you figure your exposure given the tables? Deepest dive/exposure (highest ppo2), 24 hours from last dive? What? On a dive trip of 10-15 days doing 3-5 dives per day potentially, things could add up quickly. Seriously. I'm not trolling. MHK, Scott, Lee, Trace, LHT, and many others that I know to have significant experience here please help me to understand this. Besides it will be a welcomed break from the extremely indepth "diving" discussions that are currently going on lately. (:)) Sure, I can use several programs that are around to get the answer, but I would really like to understand what is going on here, and how to figure it in the field as it were.
