Sounds like good advice except for one small matter. My BC doesn't have a pocket. In fact, my BC, doesn't have a BC. I use a plate and wings. This entire discussion reminds me of one of several reasons why I live my computer. It does decompression just fine and, if it failes, the backup does the job just as well. When I converted to DIR and got nitrox certified around the same time, I purchased all new equipment. I have always preferred a console to a wrist mounted computer, so went non DIR by purchasing an Oceanic Data Plus in a console. I should have known better. Later, I purchased a wrist mounted Genesis version of the same computer. When I get around to shortening the hose on the console, it will provide very little additional drag. Since I have it, I'll keep it as backup when I use my wrist mounted computer or as a primary when I'm doing things with my hands I'd rather my computer didn't participate in (lobstering). Backup isn't a bad idea when it adds no complications, particularly when it's already paid for. Lee |
