Hi, Im just after a few peoples opinions on the use of drysuits in hotter environments. I live in New Zealand, where the water temps usually range between 12 and 21 degC. Im going to Vanautu in late May/early June to dive on the Coolidge wreck. Last time I was over in Vanuatu (in water of about 22 - 24 degC), I froze in a borrowed 2mm shortie wetsuit. Since I froze last time, I obviously need to get something like a 3mm one-piece wetsuit... however, that is completely useless for diving in NZ. What I am considering doing instead is to buy a drysuit (probably a DUI trilaminate) and therefore should be able to use it both in NZ and overseas by just changing the insulation clothing. What I want to know is if anyone has actually dived using a drysuit in temperate to tropical environments and how they found using a drysuit in those sort of locations. IE Im curious as to wether this idea of mine is competely insane or not?? Cheers |
