Funny how things will happen. The "should I do a safety stop while sharing
air" thread had pretty much run its course when I got my on line issue of a well known dive publication. While I don't consider any of the publications to be the final word on much of anything, this does indicate at least someone agrees with me. This is a direct quote. 4 Golden Rules Of Emergency Ascents No matter the type of emergency ascent you're making, it's important that you: - Perform the ascent with your BC control in hand, ready to use. - Keep your regulator in your mouth so you can continue to use it, keep water out of your mouth, maintain normal control and have the psychological security of the regulator in place. - Look up, relax and continue breathing in and out. - If at all possible (buoyancy and air allowing), perform a safety stop at about 15 feet using the remaining air from your cylinder.
