7 years ago I had surgery for a herniated lumbar disk and recovered
nicely. Since then I've been able to resume weightlifting, downhill
and crosscountry skiing, and take up scuba diving in late April.
Since then I've been on 16 dives without a problem. This past weekend
I went diving and about 30 hrs later began to feel serious pain in my
lower back. After seeing numerous doctors this week they have ruled
out DCI and a pinched nerve and say I simply strained my back. I find
it hard to believe that lifting or moving around with weights and a
tank for short periods of time on a boat could cause this kind of
injury.

Am I doing something wrong underwater?
