I just got home from my first 2 O/W dives, and I had a hard time of it, but some fun too. The first dive was terrible. I had painful squeeze on the way down, and I failed to communicate this properly to the instructor. He thought I was just having bouyancy problems, and dragged me down by my fins, when I balked. I was in pain for almost the whole dive, while I was constantly trying to equalize. The second dive was better, and, after a talk with the instructor took my time descending, and avoided almost all pain in the ears. Unfortunately, I got seasick, and had to vomit numerous times through my regulator. This, however, was a minor inconvenience compared with what happended on the first dive. After both dives were complete, I noticed a loss of hearing in my right ear which, about 7 hours later, has still not dissipated. There is no pain, but I feel a gentle pressure, like when your ears pop at altitude. Would anyone care to venture a guess at what I'm experiencing? Do they think it warrants a visit to the doctor? Does anyone have suggestions of home remedies and/or medication for boat sickness? -- Regards, Lee Kokot (Reseda, CA) lkokot@primenet.com |
