One reason Cousteau decided to build his own rig was two oxtox hits on LePrieur gear back in the 30s. If "GI, JJ, GUE, and DIR have been preaching it for a while" we can only ask where the hell they were sleeping during the 20th century. Hyperoxic H mixes have all the downside of any hyperoxic mix: oxtox, depth restrictions, measurement and monitoring requirements, O2 handling, blah, blah. Their only advantage is reduction of equivalent N2 depth. Problem is, hyperoxic mixes limit ya to depths at which, for most, narcosis is not enough of a problem to bother with the expense and hassle of 3-gas mixes. If ya get dark narc at 117 on a routine dive, ya may have problems that Helium ain't gonna cure. regards El Stroko Guapo |
