During my last dive trip, Capt Jim Wyatt was talking about PADI's Dive
Chek. Since I have a PADI card, we decided to put in my name and DOB to see what came up. No records found. This was not too surprising since my only PADI certification was granted in 1986 - coulda been before they had a computerized database. When I got back, I sent PADI an e-mail, with the subject line, "Am I in Your Database". I provided all the information on my card. The first answer I got was to acknolege receipt. So far, so good. The next person to answer stated that I was not in the database, which, of course, I already suspected. That was about all that he said. I sent a reply offering to scan my card and send them an image, with the desired end result that they enter my data. That was answered by a 3rd person, who said that they had located my information, so that in case I ever lost my card, I could get a new one. I asked him to enter the info into the Dive Chek database, he asked me to send up to date data, I did, and he said it was there. Then Capt Jim was kind enough to test the results, and my info is there. Thanks for the help Capt J. Dan Bracuk Toronto, Canada Help Prevent Alzheimer's - have a smoke. |
