I'm leaving tomorrow for a week but I wanted to get this discussion in the forefront of everyone's thinking before the upcoming holiday weekend. We have been having a really bad year this year, the death toll is mounting and sadly there have been a disproportionate amount of deaths attributable to solo diver's. Here in So. Calif. alone we have had 7 deaths this year from solo diver's. When things are calm we hear from the usual crowd about personal freedoms and the like. But when the death toll mounts the silence becomes deafening from this same crowd. While the last thing I want to do is trample on anyone's grave, the last remaining contribution any of these diver's can leave us with is that we can learn and share from there experiences. How many of the deceased do you think would solo if given the choice again??? I'm clearly not saying that everyone of them would have lived if they had a buddy, but for certain I few that I know the facts would have. Be careful this weekend guys!!!!! later |
